The definition of Organic Modern, provided by the Heritage School of Interior Design states the “style starts with a canvas of modern architecture and layers on natural and organic materials to create a comfortable, effortless feel. In Organic Modern homes, sleek lines are punctuated with reclaimed or rustic materials and natural textures and accessories”.
Organic modern, which is our style here at EWFModern, harmoniously blends the best of the two design styles. Modern interiors, with their focus on form, function, and organization are derived from modern architecture’s use of geometric angles, curves, and edges. It derives from the father of modern architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright. The outcome is sleek, spacious, and uncluttered. But despite these attributes, “modern” often comes across as cold and lifeless.
The organic aesthetic is rich with character and warmth that comes from the use of natural materials - think stone, wood, and textural fibers. Color, pattern, shapes, and textural inspiration can all be drawn from nature. To achieve this look, we curate natural, sustainably produced materials. We pair with soft, airy textiles with our hard surface materials such as reclaimed wood or metal.
