In search of innovative makers of modern accessories who thoughtfully play with the design process, our buyers scoured the New York Design Show. They found artisans who pose the same questions we do when we curate furnishings, art and home decor: “Why do we need this? How can it be made better? Is this modern beauty?”

We are thrilled to share our new Artisan Collection with you, Portland.

The current makers in our collection celebrate simple, smart and progressive aesthetics using wood, ceramics, metal, leather, glass, fabric and other durable materials. Emphasizing creativity, process and quality, their products redefine modern design.

Erez Russo: 1859 Oregon Magazine Designer Spotlight

Architect and EWF Modern team member, Erez Russo, was featured in the latest (November) issue of 1859 Oregon Magazine as a Designer Spotlight. He discussed one of our joint projects, a Rummer-inspired home. Our role in the project was designing the interior and complimenting the incredible architecture with furniture from our organic modern collections. Congratulations Erez! Living Large in Small Spaces

Living large in small spaces is a growing national movement gaining traction in Portland. This may be due to an increase in the renovation of older buildings, the development of new condos and apartments, and due to urban dwellers who care more about place than space. Throughout this month of July, we'll be sharing our top 5 solutions for living large in small spaces on our blog and on social media.

TIP #1

Sofas and sectionals.  Larger pieces in smaller spaces provide more seating and offer a more expansive appearance.  Crowding your living area with small scale pieces actually diminishes the visual field.  Every piece counts in a small space--choose quality over quantity.

Warmer, brighter days of summer stir the yearning to travel. Bring memories and inspiration from pleasurable excursions back home to your interior spaces. To quote Tim Clarke, interior designer, from his article,

..., “There is a way to recapture the essence of a faraway place by integrating design elements into your own décor. Our aim here at EWF Modern is to bring outstanding design and quality to your living spaces while being socially and environmentally conscious. Our reclaimed wood and sustainably harvested furniture gives back to the planet through environmental responsibility. We appreciate long-standing relationships with manufacturers who contribute to social responsibility. This past year we have given cash or in-kind donations of home furnishings to organizations that align with our values and who we believe are making a difference. One of our favorites is The Forest Park Conservancy, a local group working toward "protecting Forest Park's ecological health while encouraging responsible recreation and access."

 The theme for our November blog post is gathering. Seasons are changing, holidays are approaching and attention turns to the places and spaces called home. This is a special time to anticipate and prepare for time with family and friends. High Point Spring Market

High Point Market is a whirlwind of a week! With over 75,000 industry professionals and furniture enthusiasts descending onto High Point, NC to scout out the best of the best in home furnishings. Two of our own volunteered for the dauntless task. The owner Renee and in-house interior designer Jill culled through hundreds of new products, hand selecting organic + modern pieces that offer that distinct ewf modern feel.
